The People’s Choice Competition is a charity event for the Coastal Virginia Auto Show (CVAS). Donations by participants, spectators, and sponsors combine to fund donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF). Volunteers from Virginia Chevy Lovers (VCL) and CFF will enroll participants and collect ballots from spectators during the 3-day CVAS event.
Rules of Engagement: This competition is about fun, it will NOT add value to your car. The rules are simple, you have to be in it to win it and get as many people as you can to vote for your car.
Participation: All CVAS competitors, sponsors, and vendors are invited to join the People’s Choice Competition. Each will pay a $5 donation for each category they wish to compete in. The volunteers will solicit the participants and track registration, providing each car with a car number window placard. Participants will be provided with ballots to give to spectators to use in casting their votes (note the volunteers will collect donations at the time the ballots are cast). Participants are encouraged to vote for their own vehicle and enlist spectators to vote for them as well. Vote buying is allowed; however, all must adhere to the stipulation below ($100 can buy a hundred votes, but only one at a time). Here are the five categories:
- Old as Dirt, Cool as Dean – cars manufactured before 1960
- Muscle Madness – 60s and 70s muscle cars
- Pro, Pro, Pro – pro street and pro touring rides
- Modern Machines – European, Import, Modern cars
- Pick Me Up – just for trucks
Awards: Each category will win a trophy (on display in the lobby at the VCL booth) and a $100 cash award. The winners are determined by the most votes in each category. If a competitor is registered in more than one category the competition director will determine which category they win and the winners in subsequent categories.
Ballots: Spectators will be given ballots and encouraged to vote for their favorite car. All ballots will be collected at one location (the VCL booth in the lobby provided by CVAS). Each ballot cast requires a donation (1$ minimum) when the ballot is cast. Spectators will also be eligible for a $500 cash prize random drawing by including their name, phone number, and email on the ballot.
